Asia-Pacific Trustmark Alliance
For Singapore to be a key player in the connected global economy, it is important that NTC facilitates and participates in global initiatives. One of NTC’s roles is to actively work on cross border recognition of TrustSg with other trust mark programmes in other countries, so that local e-businesses will be instantly recognisable by end-users, not just in Singapore but also in the global marketplace.

Out of this desire was born the Asia-Pacific Trustmark Alliance. The establishment of this alliance has elevated TrustSg to a regional status, and thus opened business opportunities for its accredited e-businesses beyond local markets. This has resulted in a positive impact on the TrustSg adoption rate as more e-businesses recognise the tangible benefits from accreditation. Also, its successful formation has set the stage for a potential international trust mark alliance in the near future.

The alliance members include the following trust mark operators:
  • Asociacion Mexicana de Internet (AMIPCI);
  • CommerceNet Singapore (CNSG);
  • Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE);
  • EC Network (Japan);
  • Korea Institute for Electronic Commerce (KIEC);
  • Secure Online Shopping Association, Taiwan (SOSA);
  • Sure Seal (Philippines);
  • TradeSafe (Japan);
  • TRUSTe (USA); and
  • Vietnam E-Commerce Development Center (ECOMVIET)
The alliance members have mutually agreed to co-operate to:
  • Introduce the Asia-Pacific Trustmark Alliance through their websites;
  • Promote e-businesses under the Asia-Pacific Trustmark Alliance as “trusted players” in e-commerce;
  • Encourage purchases from e-businesses under the Asia-Pacific Trustmark Alliance; and
  • Engage in marketing and promotional activities.
